Heirlooms

My great grandmother is moving from her current apartment into a different one more geared for seniors. And yes, my children have a great great grandmother (2 alive actually). In fact, I knew every single one of my great grandmothers. Anyway, as my "Bee" as I affectionately have called her my whole life, is moving and having to downsize her possessions again. She is offering the family the things she cannot take. I am of course taking some stuff but the one thing I really want is this white stuffed cat that used to live on her bed. What a silly thing to want in some ways.

This cat was very special to her. So special my sister and I were not allowed to play with it. We could occasionally cuddle it but we could not take it off her bed. I know that it is weird to want a cat that I was never allowed to play with but this cat is special. It was special to Bee, Bee is special to me and this cat reminds me of her and all the memories and times we shared. And as my kids grow up, there will be a white cat in my room that my kids will not be allowed to play with.

Things I Never Thought I'd Do

Having kids has created a growingly large list of things I have had to do that I never thought I would have to.

As Kiwi grew up she developed a habit of taking off her diaper after she pooped. She would then smear the poop throughout her room. I spent countless hours cleaning poo off her walls, washing bedding, and steamexing the floors. Until someone gave me the best advice ever, put a zippered sleeper on her backwards!! It worked. So as Peanut started to get the desire to strip down to nothing but her diaper a week or two ago I tried the same thing! It works thank goodness.

However, since she no longer had a diaper to play with she had a desire to find something else to destroy. She started peeling the wallpaper off her walls. We live in an old 1930's farmhouse and I have no clue what the glue was made out of so I put packing tape over every seem of the wallpaper all over the room! It worked, but I never thought I would have to do such a thing.

With the wallpaper secured she needed something else to amuse her. She started working at the carpet until she had separated it from the floor and picking off the backing! Again I had no clue what it was made of (thank goodness she never put this in her mouth, but there was potential). So I had a brilliant idea to screw down the carpet. It worked, I was relieved.

For one night, when she found herself bored yet again and discovered she could pull on the threads of the carpet and have it unravel into a long string. Sigh, will I ever win?

Another new family member!

We went to a local orchard and they had 10 kittens they were trying to find homes for. They had 9 females and 1 male. We figured what are the chances we'll get the male, so we let the kids pick the kitten they wanted. They picked the boy! But this little guy stole my heart by cuddling with me too. But Aurora is a girl and neither are neutered so this nay be interesting!!

His name is Tiggr and he has the most beautiful markings!

As you can tell this little guy is getting lots of love!!

I only wish I had been able to get a video of Aurora meeting Tiggr. I have never met a cat that growls but Aurora does!

Summer Lovin'

Since Teeny was born we've been going non stop! First Daddy's sister and her husband and two children visited for a week. Then we helped my mom pack up her stuff and move with a bunch of appointments in between all of that. Then we have visited family members from all sides that we have not seen in years due to me being so sick. We've been to a funeral, some movies, some lakes, some 100th birthday events (for a town not a person), and TONS of visiting!! It's not over yet. Daddy goes back to work on Wednesday and we have another jam packed weekend ahead of us! It's been a ton of fun!!

Hopefully everyone else is enjoying their summer as much as we are!

Crazy Busy and Been Wondering!

Sorry all, I know I'm not so good at this blogging often thing yet but I want to be. However, we have been doing what I call drive through living for the past three weeks. Thats where we wake up leave the house just after breakfast and return home at like 10pm just to sleep and repeat.

Needless to say, the house is a mess and I have barely looked at my e-mails in weeks. It's been great to see so many people though, and even more wonderful for everyone to meet Teeny Tiny (baby/Teeny).

I still haven't fixed the commenting issue, or even found out if it's just on my laptop and not my desktop. Don't know. I have lots of pictures taken for an update but either not fully uploaded or not edited yet.

I was thinking though the other day about all the phone calls I have to make. Over half of them are to get some information about extra curriculars that Kiwi is now old enough for in the fall so that we can decide what to enroll her in. Options include dance, gymnastics, soccer, preschool/playschool, and a few others I can't think of. We have settled on preschool I believe but it's the others that get me. She loves to dance but if I put her in it would I end up pushing her into it too much because I loved dance? Is the first thing you enroll them in the thing they tend to pick for the rest of their childhood? How do you balance wanting to give the kids everything and yet not doing everything to be home sometimes and not over busy?

Essentially, my head is spinning. Hopefully having until mid August to decide will help.
